2007
• In December 2007, the State Project Teams agreed draft principles in relation to business practices for
Client Identity Verification (CIV), Client Authorisation (CA) and Instrument Certification (IC).
• During 2007, an issue paper on the NECS Legal Framework was prepared by the National Office and
provided to the jurisdictions for comment.
• During 2007, a draft NECS Requirements Definition was prepared by the National Office.
This document continues to be updated to reflect the work of the National and State Project Teams.
• At its 23 November 2007 meeting, the National Steering Committee accepted a request by the Federal
Government to become a member of the Committee and Richard Glenn was appointed as the
representative.
• At its 23 November 2007 meeting, the National Steering Committee resolved that the National Office
convene a meeting of interested stakeholders to discuss integrating jurisdiction and industry
consultation via a National Project Team.
• In May 2007, NECS entered into an agreement with LIXI Ltd, a not-for-profit company, to develop
National Electronic Conveyancing Data Standards.
• In March 2007 a National Consultation Progress Report was published, confirming key stakeholder
support for the National Business Model.
• Also in March 2007, the Independent Expert Advice sought by the National Office on NECS risk,
regulation and ongoing governance arrangements was finalised and presented to the National Steering
Committee.
• At its 30 March and 29 June 2007 meetings, the National Steering Committee endorsed:
o the NECS Roadmap as the basis for defining and implementing NECS
o the NECS National Business Model as the basis for national electronic conveyancing
o updating and republishing the NECS Roadmap documents in response to the findings of the National
Consultation Program and Independent Expert Advice.
