Limitations of Current Approach
As a result of our early colonial history, property conveyancing in Australia is a State and Territory-based activity regulated by each jurisdiction. This means that the practices and procedures for the registration of property interests vary among the State and Territory land agencies.
Further, the current approach involves face-to-face property settlements where representatives of both parties meet at an appointed time and place to exchange cheques for title documents. This practice is outdated, time consuming, impractical and expensive.
