National Office Update

The National Office is firing on all cylinders:

  • We are preparing to hit the road in May with the "Conveyancing: What's NECS?" presentation in every State and Territory
  • The Evaluation Committee is considering expressions of interest in the four areas of expert advice to look at different aspects of NECS
  • We are about to re-locate offices to accommodate our growth
  • The national consultation forums are nearing kick-off in June

All in all, a busy time for us! Please read below for details on these areas of our work.

Conveyancing: What's NECS?

During May, Executive Director Simon Libbis and National Consultation Manager Jennifer Haydock will be giving a number of presentations to outline the NECS consultation forums and to provide an update on NECS progress.

The tentative times for the visits are 3-5 pm on the following dates: 

3rd May       Perth
8th May       Brisbane
10th May     Sydney
11th May     Canberra
17th May     Darwin
22nd May     Hobart
25th May     Adelaide
31st May     Melbourne

State and Territory preparations for NECS

Australia's States and Territories are working towards e-conveyancing through a range of initiatives which will prepare their systems for national electronic conveyancing.  Some of the initiatives include:

  • WA: SmartRegister: digitization of the paper certificates of title
  • NT: trial of pre-populated forms
  • Qld: pilot for the provision of digital searches and acceptance of digital lodgments
  • SA: Land administration reform program ATLAS
  • NSW: NECS readiness program
  • ACT: land titles web-based system
  • Vic: Victorian EC pilot
  • Tas: Tasmanian Online Land Dealings
