The National Office has had a busy month since the last NECSpress. We have travelled to every jurisdiction in Australia, preparing people for the national, online Consultation Forums and meeting with local State and Territory project teams. Back in Melbourne, our Business Administrator Colleen Marks-De Sa coordinated the move to our new address on Queen St, and our new Senior Analyst Dr Mathew Warnest oversaw the tender process for sourcing independent expert advice on key aspects of NECS.
I look forward to hearing from you all in the online Consultation Forums!

During May, the National Office's Executive Director Simon Libbis and Consultation Manager Jackie Bailey visited every jurisdiction and held "Conveyancing; What's NECS" presentations for government and industry. The presentations were attended by approximately 450 people around Australia. Simon gave an overview of the NECS state of play and Jackie demonstrated the use of the online National Consultation Forums which will be commencing later in June.
A special NECSpress will be sent out to let you know when the Forums are ready for joining.
Thank you to all who attended! If you have any feedback about the presentations, please click here to fill out a feedback form.

The National Steering Committee for NECS met in Melbourne on 2 June 2006 for the third time since its inception. The Committee considered issues ranging from a new document called the "NECS Operations Description," which will assist Forum members to discuss the detail of the proposed system, to the development of the NECS Data Standard. All in all it was a very positive and productive meeting, with members remaining as committed as ever to progressing NECS.
For more information about the Steering Committee, click here.
More information on the NECS Data Standard will be coming soon to the NECS website.
The NECS Operations Description document will be available on the website by the end of June. Stay tuned!
