FIRST MEETING OF NECS DATA STANDARDS MANAGEMENT GROUP

In our last NECSpress, we talked about the agreement with Lending Industry XML Initiative Ltd (LIXI) to create common data standards for the National Electronic Conveyancing System (NECS). The NECS Data Standards Management Group established by the agreement met in Sydney on 06 June 2007.

Whilst not all jurisdictions have become members of LIXI yet, they were all represented either personally or by teleconference facilities at the meeting. The other members of the Management Group in attendance were representatives from LIXI and the National Electronic Conveyancing Office (NECO).

The Management Group ensures that the jurisdictions and NECO have control over the development and release of national data standards for electronic conveyancing. It sits between the LIXI Board and the working groups and defines and controls the project.  At its first meeting the Management Group agreed on its own rules of order and its functions.  It also agreed that the first project of the working group would be to develop national data standards for discharge/release of mortgage, transfer and mortgage to enable lodgment and registration. The first working group will commence in about 1 month and is open to all members of LIXI. 

TALKING ABOUT NECS

The National Office plays an important role in providing information to and seeking feedback from stakeholders about the National Electronic Conveyancing System. An effective way of achieving this is by presenting at industry seminars and conferences. Executive Director, Simon Libbis, has been speaking at a number of these events around the nation.
